About Rick

For over 25 years I have smoked on average of a pack and a half to two packs or more a day. I started smoking when I was 19 but had chewed tobacco off and on for a couple years before that. I believe my first pack of cigarettes was Marlboro Menthol's but smoked camels and other brands over the years. For the last 15 or so years, I was smoking Pall Mall Red 100's. I was smoking very heavy and when I lit one up, I was constantly puffing on it until it was gone. Often times I would get a minimum of 20 puffs off a cigarette, only to light my next one with the hot butt from the one I just finished.

Being from Arizona, I have watched our state like many others go from being fairly "smoker friendly" to being considered an outcast for my smoking habit. Even family was extremely critical of my smoking as well as being concerned about my long-term smokers cough. Now in Arizona we can not even smoke in Bars or Restaurants. We can not smoke within so many feet of a public entrance to a building. Many places even have no smoking signs posted at drive-through windows.

Like many people, I have tried all kinds of ways to quit smoking. I have tried hypnotism, various quit-smoking classes & seminars, patches gums. Due to other non-smoking related health issues, prescription medication such as Chantix were not an option to me, but even if it had been I am not sure I would have gone that far due to the long list of "potential" side-effects. I tried switching to a pipe as well as supplementing a pipe with patches to compenstate for lower nicotine levels. I had a grandfather that I was very fond of who was one of the few smokers in our family and he smoked a pipe for as long as I ever knew him. I always loved the smell of his pipe, even when I was younger and hated cigarette smoke.

After seeing one of those "too good to be true" cigarette ads, it prompted me to dive head-first into research on ecigs. My research kept leading me back to V2 as being the best. There are cheaper ones out there, but I knew if I was going to make this work it was going to have to look and feel similar to a cigarette and give me both the satisfaction from the nicotine as well as the "habit of smoking".

So I placed my order for my new V2 Ultimate kit. I knew that another key factor was going to be having enough batteries, cartridges and extra juice to make sure I could get my nicotine "fix" when I needed it. I also was encouraged  to know that the kit included a "USB powered V2 Powercig" that I could use as a backup in case my batteries were dead. I received my "Ultimate Kit" on January 26, 2012. Immediately, I tore into my kit like a kid on Christmas morning. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had also tossed in free disposable version of their ecig to use while I was reading and charging batteries.

When I had a fully charged battery I opened one of my V2 Red flavor cartridges and attached it to the battery. I took a puff and was surprised to find out that it was not like the disposable they sent me. I found out later that their disposable is not the same nicotine juice as the juices in the cartridge. While it tasted nothing like a cigarette to me, much better in fact, it was also very satisfying. I still had cigarettes left but used my V2 for the rest of the day and only had 1 or 2 more cigarettes for the rest of the day.
